DAHU Membership Does Have Its Benefits!

Continuing Education Credits

By Karen Boutross

One of the primary focuses of DAHU is to provide its members with a variety of ways to obtain continuing education.  As you’re aware, each Licensee is required to have 30 hours of CE on file with the Illinois Division of Insurance prior to the expiration of their license.

As an active member of DAHU, you are provided with a number of ways to obtain a sizeable portion of the CE credits required every two years.
Each month, DAHU provides you with 2 CE credits for attending the DAHU monthly meeting.  Illinois Division of Insurance only allows 15 CE credit per calendar year that relates to monthly meetings. Remember, sign-in at the front desk to insure receiving your credits.  At the end of the calendar year, which is December, your accumulated CE credits are downloaded by the State’s Education Chair and then forwarded to the Illinois Division of Insurance.

Each year, DAHU sponsors its Annual Expo in the spring. The time and date will be published on the website under the "Chapter Meetings" Calendar. By attending you’ll receive CE credits.

As an active member of DAHU, you can enroll in a continuing education course and upon your completion, just submit your completion certificate, along with your receipt, to the Education Chair for a reimbursement of up to $200.00 per course.
If you’re planning on adding a RHU- Registered Health Underwriter or REBC- Registered Employee Benefits Consultant RHU designation upon your completion, The Illinois State Association of Health Underwriter (ISAHU) will reimburse you $250.00 by submitting your completion letter to your DAHU Education Chair.

Once you receive your new designation, a personalized NAHU Press Release can be arranged congratulating you for your achievement. The Press Release is designed to be sent to your local media and of course, includes your name, company, and describes the value of these new designations.  After earning your RHU or REBC designation and would like to have the NAHU Press Release with your name on it, just call the Education Department at (703) 276-3826 or email education@nahu.org.
It’s easy to stay up to date on how many CE credits you have earned at any point in time. Your Producer Licensing Record lists the courses completed along with the number of hours you have accumulated. You can check to see if your CE credits are recorded by the Illinois Division of Insurance at www.ins.state.il.us.

Let’s kick this New Year off by getting a head start on those CE credits.  Attend the next DAHU meeting and don’t forget to sign in when you arrive to receive your credits.
